Images are very small in IE8

Responsive image scaling is not working when rendering a course page in IE8. Images are displayed very small.

Reverting the Bootstrap 3.2.x SVG "backslash hack" appears to resolve the height issue, but the images still render as very narrow. stempler/bootstrap@bdac0578bd2c0be4535f54a4cf8c99e20a20f3ca
